"But our citizenship is in heaven, and
from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ"
Philippians 3:20
This note serves a reminder to all Christians that, though we live on planet earth, we are not of the earthly kingdom but we are of the heavenly kingdom. We have been adopted by the blood of Jesus Christ and have been made heirs together with Christ, over and above that we have been given the Spirit of adoption with whom we are able to say Abba, Father. Let us be careful not to be caught in the snare of the enemy, who is always attempting to remove us from the presence of the Lord, by enticing us with the riches of this word and the glory of the earth which is far to less than that which God has prepared for us through Christ Jesus.
It is important for us to understand that God is our Father and that He is the King of heaven. God says in His word, "Thus says the LORD: “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool; what is the house that you would build for me, and what is the place of my rest?" Isaiah 66:1. Therefore God rest in heaven as King and then extends His dominion to the earth. Jesus taught His disciple to pray thus " Our Father, who is in heaven, Hallowed be your name, Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is done in heaven" (Matthew 6:10) Note, right after God is acknowledged and honored as the Father in heaven. Jesus teaches that we should pray "Your kingdom come" meaning that God must have dominion here on earth. His rule should preside here on earth . The Jesus says, "Your will be done on earth as it is done in heaven" Right after the kingdom has come, the constitution, the standard and principles of heaven must be applied here on earth. The bible doesn't say that the will of God must be done in heaven as it is done on earth, but it is the other way round. We should do what God wants just like they do it in heaven, why? Because the earth is the extension of the heavenly kingdom and we are the stewards and the rulers on earth.
Ruling on earth means, we should exercise the authority we have in Jesus Christ, to establish the Kingdom of God where ever we set foot. That is why Jesus told the disciples to go and preach, "The kingdom of heaven is at hand." Not only did He charge them to preach but also gave them power and authority to cast out demons and heal the sick. Why? Because " ... no one can enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man. Then indeed he may plunder his house." (Mark3:27) Satan is the god of this world (2 Corinthians 4:4) and in order for us to take over the planet, we have to bind him and cast out his demons first, then we can have full control on earth, in the name of Jesus Christ. We are not to be influenced by the world in any way, that is why Paul writes "And be not conformed to this world: but be you transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." ( Romans 12:2)
Now many of the "Christians" are busy bowing to Satan ignorantly and they worship him unknowingly because they don't know the purpose of being saved and of living by faith in Christ. Let us be busy with the matters of heaven and not give too much attention to that of the earth. Let us work hard to carry the gospel to the nations than to feed our flesh with delicacies of this age, knowing that we are "eagerly waiting for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ." The greatest success is not having lots money or eating expensive foods and possessing all the riches of the earth but it is to gain at least one soul for Jesus Christ because "... the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit." (Romans 14:17) and "This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth" (1Timothy 2:3-4)
"I do not ask that you take them out of the world,
but that you keep them from the evil one.
They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.
(John 17:15-16)
