She gave Worship to God with her own personal Glory

In the book of Luke 7:37- 50 we see a story of a woman whose character was questionable. She came into the house in which Jesus was a guest. She came in with an alabaster flask which contained expensive perfume oil. She knelt down before Jesus and she began to weep while pouring the oil on Jesus' feet. She took her hair and wiped the feet of Jesus and kissed them. Simon the Pharisee, who was the owner of the house, began to question Jesus in his heart, if He was a true prophet because this woman was a sinner.

Jesus began to point out that Simon the Pharisee was not caring for Him in a way that this woman has. She washed His feet with her own tears and kissed them, and then she anointed them with fragrant (perfume) oil where as Simon did not offer water for His feet to be washed, or a kiss, neither did he anoint Jesus' head with oil.

In Verse 50 Jesus said to the woman “Your faith has saved you, Go in peace”

Note that

1. She purposed in her heart to worship Him and moved in faith. “When she heard that Jesus sat at the table in the Pharisee's house, she brought the alabaster flask of fragrant oil” (verse 37)

2. She stood before Him and wept (verse 38) a symbol of contrition and confessing her sins

3. She served Jesus in a way she could (verse 38) since she had no water, “she washed His feet with her tears”

4. She took her personal pride and glory (1 Corinthians 11:15) and wipe Jesus feet (verse 38) “...wiped them with hair of her head ...”

5. She honored Jesus ( verse 38) “ ...she kissed his feet”

6. She worshiped Jesus (verse38) “ she anointed them with fragrant oil” giving a sweet aroma (smell) and worship to God

7. She was vindicated in heart, justified of God through faith and delivered from her sins(verse 50) “Your faith have saved you, Go in peace”

Simon was used to God, like some of us who when it is raining they don't go to church. It wasn't a big deal that Jesus was under His roof. He was only worried when someone found it to be awkward to look at Jesus' face as if it is of the ordinary men. Simon the Pharisee was out done by a woman in the service to God.

She honored God in Christ because “...all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son of God does not honor the Father who sent Him” John 5:23

Lets us worship God from the heart, in spirit and in truth. God is not our credit card or an expense account which we use when we need it and put it way when done with it. God is God and we need Him not the other way round. Remember that the heavens won't run bankrupt if you don't avail yourself for service to God. Instead you will be replaced by someone who appears to be of a lower status than that of yours.

For God to work through you, break your alabaster box and give everything inside, to Jesus Christ. Do what Jesus tells us in Luke 9:23, "If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me."
